QFILER is about the best there is for disk/file management.
For a quick start, QFILER may be invoked by typing QFILER and
pressing [Enter] at the DOS prompt. You may also use
command-line options after typing QFILER. An "M" included on
the command line will force QFILER to run in black and white
mode if you have a monochrome monitor hooked to a color
display video board. To invoke, enter QFILER M when running
the program. Otherwise, QFILER will run in color on systems
with color boards; black and white on those with monochrome
boards. An "S" on the command line will force QFILER to sort
the directory files into alphabetical order by file name when
the files are first read from disk. Otherwise, the
subdirectories will be sorted (and listed first), but the
files will be in default order. A "V" on the command line
will cause files marked to be displayed in reverse-video
rather than the default high-intensity white. The "S", "M",
and "V" may combined when running QFILER. (i.e. QFILER MSV).
Pressing "H" will display a help screen with a quick summary
of function and cursor keys assignments. Full documentation
is to be found in QFILER.DOC.
Files are displayed in two windows, as you will see. When
selecting a drive\directory (<F5> and <F6>) to be shown in
one of the windows, the following will be true:
C -- by itself will change to the root directory of the
drive\directory (C:\ in this case).
C: -- with a colon will change to the current directory of
the indicated drive\directory; if no current
directory, then the root directory.
C:\DOS -- any defined paths of 3 or more characters will
force QFILER to attempt to change to the
identified drive\directory.
Pressing Control-P will bring up a screen to set or cancel
skip-over-perf on Epson and Epson-compatible printers.
The complete documentation file, QFILER.DOC, is set up for
printing -- including form-feeds to skip over perfs. Key in
either:
TYPE QFILER.DOC > PRN
or, if DOS PRINT.COM is available,
PRINT QFILER.DOC
Your manual will then be printed. Read, Enjoy, and SUPPORT!
